Comment: Can't lie stripers are amazing to eat, but only take what you can eat, and especially release all bass over 30lbs. It is vital that these fish be released to maintain the species stock.

Comment: The description of the Striped Bass in the last sentence stated that they are not much of a fighter. I beg to differ, they are a great fighting fish and they will fight all the way to the boat. They are a GREAT SPORT FISH!!!

Comment: Back in the late 60's my dad and I would fish behind Logan Martin Dam from the bank and wear 'em out . The Coosa River system had'nt been stocked with Saltwater Stripes that long and the experiment looked as if it was working . I thank whoever took that chance . It worked in the Santee- Cooper system and now is even in the west . Back in the 60's my dad and I would go to K-mart and get a card of 20 white Shysters and I would lose most of them , but we caught alot of fish . I did'nt care how much they cost , he bought them . You don't see many Shysters around nowadays, I think I lost them in the rocks .

Comment: can't wait for the spring striper run. i like using my freshwater outfit to catch the schoolies. a small swimmer usually works well. i also like using the storm soft shad paddle tail type lures as well. when i'm targeting the cows, i'll use my surf rod and be heaving 2-3 oz. lures. had luck last year around the herring run at the cape cod canal as well as the jetty on the east end near scusset beach.

Comment: Stripers are running south of Wethersfield Cove chasing alewives now. Great nightfishing opportunity. Saw some guys pull up a 40" striper with mackerel bait tonight fishing flats by the Wethersfield Cove.

Comment: You might try the freshwater variety during the summer months. A good spot to do this is the Santee Cooper Chain, lakes Marion and Moultire in South Carolina. Try fishing the deeper holes in the river channels with live herring under a sliding float. We have tore them up for many summers there using this method. And stripers have been found to 100 lbs in these lakes a few times in the past so the potential is out there for a new world record as well. And they are land-locked so they ain't going far! Good fishing

Comment: I fished for stripers 5/4 and 5/5 in the surf at Brigantine and Cape May, NJ. Nothing, despite wide variety of baits and long hours. Stopped at LBI but report from tackle shop little in the surf right now. Also fished Brigantine 2 days last week. No luck
